About

Professional development of faculty at the University of the West has taken a new turn as of March 2011 with the development of this site.

The site was developed, and will continue an ongoing development, with the WASC Handbook of Accreditation, 2008 document firmly in mind and, in particular, with the following WASC Standards and, within each Standard, Criteria for Review (CFR) most firmly in mind.

Those Standards and Criteria for Review emphasize the importance of faculty professional development activities that are designed to improve teaching and learning; curricular and instructional innovation; linkages among teaching, learning, scholarship, and service; investment in human resources, especially in order to promote effective teaching and learning; training and support for faculty members; inquiry into the processes of teaching and learning; and enhanced design and practice of pedagogy.

We encourage UWest Faculty to contribute to this site, either by sending links to possible content to the editor or by contributing original content (created by you, our UWest faculty!).  Please see our Publishing Plan for the topics to be covered in 2011-2012 for some ideas for original articles, tutorials, videos, podcasts, etc. that would be helpful to the development of your fellow faculty.  Email the editor with links or ideas for original content.
